Media kit for publicising Darwin Defenders

Free publicity is available in the media for significant news or events. This page will give you some ideas for raising awareness in your local community about Darwin’s World War II history.

For example you could contact your local newspaper, distribute brochures or link to our home page.

Newspapers

Local newspapers are especially interested in local events, such as commemoration services or school visits by veterans, and in local people such as veterans living in the area.

The best time to contact local newspapers is late January and early February.

Here is a draft letter (Microsoft Word document, 12 kb) that you can send to your local newspaper. Click on the link, save the file onto your hard disk, then open it in Microsoft Word and add your own name and address.

Brochures

Darwin Defenders 1942-45 Inc has produced a color brochure that you can use to promote events and raise awareness in your community. Contact the honorary secretary for details.
